We have a hive that has exploded in bee population but not much honey,or brood,or pollen. We have a nine frame hive,nine frames covered with bees,about 50,000 bees but about one side of a frame of honey,a half a frame caped brood,one frame of new eggs,one frame of pollen.
Can anyone tell me what's going on ? We have feed them alot because the lost a queen and we had to give them a new one, can you feed them to much and they get to where they don't make honey or pollen ?
An other hive is doing great about half the size,alot of everything,so there is flow here.
If the hive requeen itself after June 21 (summer solstice) then the new queen would brood up if there was a honey flow going on. Queens that are before the solstice know that the season is over and will not brood up even during a honey flow.

So are you saying ,if a queen broodes up, then the hive will not store very much honey and pollen ?
I see I think,the hive brooded up because the honey flow was on and now it's over they are cutting back on brood,that's why there is not much new eggs and capped brood now ?
