Title: Change of plan Stan!
Post by: mick on August 18, 2009, 05:25:47 AM
This season, which began 2 days ago IMO and will be a bumper between now and when the 120f temps hit in Dec or Jan, I am going to use plastic foundation painted with my wax.

I used one frame of plastic last year in a hive between 2 wax foundation frames. Didnt notice any difference in filling her up. Was easier to extract in the Geoff extractor as it cant blow out. So its all plastic for me. Main reason is I dont have a wiring board. I will of course reuse the wax frames as I spin em.

I will let you know the progress. I might even start a thread and keep notes.

I've been happy with the plastic foundation that I use...plasticel (or equivalent) which is coated with wax.  I also use some wax, but it takes a lot more effort to assemble and sags or warps sometimes.

I use and recycle plastic foundation in wood frames. I have lots of recycled plastic frames that were given to me.  It's all good.
By recycle, I clean and recoat with wax.
