Hello All , I have a observation hive that successfully superceded this July .The new queen took her place in the colony and has been laying the past three weeks very well. Today i noticed my queen had vanished and i have seen two Queen cups developing so have been concerned. My worries have been justified as i have found my new queen dead outside the hive entrance. It is now the 1st of September here in England and the weather is getting Rather chillyer , The bees have stored loads of honey and i was wondering would a virgin queen be viable this late in the season ????

Most importantly will there be drones available to mate with your new queen. If so you may well be alright.

A local beek should be able to answer your question better. As said above it depends alot on your drone population you have now. Need the drones to mate.
Evidently they did not like the new supercede. You may need to order a new queen, if possible.
