What do you do with fermented honey in the hive ? Will the bees do something with it ?

I have harvested (slightly) fermented honey (the bees had absconded due to wax moths), bottled it, hot-bath heated it, sealed the jars, and it turned out just fine for personal consumption.  I was afraid to give any away.

I have read in other postings here that you should never feed fermented honey to bees.
