Post by: RiverLight on September 23, 2009, 08:18:16 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm new to beekeeping, still learning. I don't have any hives yet.

I'm looking forward to going through the information at this site and getting to know all of you.

Hello and Welcome!

This forum is a great place to learn more about bees and beekeepers. Be sure to check out the tutorials on the main Beemaster page - that's where I started about half-dozen years ago.

I recommend getting in touch with David Burns at Long Lane Apiaries. He has a beginning beekeeping class coming up soon that may be of interest:

He also has a very informative beekeeping blog:

Lastly, considergetting involved in a local beekeeping club. Clubs are good places to find mentors and get connected with local beekeepers:

Welcome Sue! I'm new to beekeeping also. We pick up our hives in October, then order our two nucs of bees in January to be picked up in May/April. My wife and I have read a lot, but have learned so much more on this great Forum from ALL of the wonderful and helpful people. I Would reccommend joining your local beek association and attempt to find a local beek to possibly experience hands on fun! It's a blast!

Sue, welcome to our forum, so great you found us.  This will be a place where you can spend eons of time learning, asking questions and hanging out.  The day will come when you will get your bees, and the knowledge that you acquire before you delve deeply into their secret lives, will do so much to help you along that path.  Stick around, we love new members and remember to always ask any question that comes to your mind, great answers will come.  Have that most awesomely wonderful day, great health.  Cindi

Thank you, JWPick. Congratulations on getting your hives. You're at an exciting time. I just contacted my local association, so I've gotten that ball rolling. I'm looking forward to connecting with local people because I would like some hands-on.

Thank you, Cindi. Yes, this seems like a wonderful site that's chock full of information and friendly, helpful people.
