Title: More bees than I know what to do with! Any SWFL beeks want feral hives?
Post by: kedgel on September 25, 2009, 08:36:51 PM
I recently posted on Craigslist offering to take bees from people's houses, etc.  I've been absolutely innundated!  I took the ad down after a couple of days, and I'm still getting calls.  I have 3 colonies that I'm going to go get, but I have several others that are available, but I have no more hives.  I told the others that I'd put it out on Beemaster's Forum and see if I could find someone who wants them.  Any takers?  The hives are in the Ft. Myers/Naples area.

I had such fun with what SWFL stood for - Single White Female L????   and then realized it was South West Florida.

I'm not interested, being 20+ hours away , but are these colonies that you offered to take for free?

Sounds interesting.  Get any calls for southeast Florida ?  I live near fort lauderdale.

I'm by Daytona. If these bees are in mobile homes maybe they'd want to bring 'em up here? :-D

After reading your note, I also posted a note in craigslist. Not a single response. Where did you post yours ? I could use some more bees in SE Florida.

Mike:

I posted under "general" and "items wanted".  I was thinking of posting in the "free" section offering free bee removal, but never needed to as I was buried.  I am still getting calls even though I took it down 2 weeks ago.  I have seen several postings in the free section of folks looking to "give away" a wild hives as well.  I'd keep re-posting periodically.  If you want to run across the "Alley", I have at least 5 other hives that I'm not going to go get, if you want them.

I would never get 5 in one day and get home too.   Tempting though.   I could use some healthy bees.

MIke:

Yeah, it takes a good 2+ hours to do a cutout.  You're about an hour and a half away on top of that.
