Title: Bear Destruction
Post by: jester7891 on December 06, 2009, 09:36:28 PM
A colleague of mine was talking to a third acquaintance and found out that I was a new beekeeper (2.5 years).  John apparently has been keeping bees for 20 years  - I didn't know.  I'm trying to get him to join this site as I'm sure he would be a great asset. He sent me some pictures of a bear destroying his 3 hives a few weeks ago (he lost one hive and then set up the camera to watch the other 2).  He will restart again in the spring.  John lives in a small town close to Easton, PA, not exactly in the middle of the woods.  The fence was torn down in seconds.

PS Hope I got the adding photos right.

Jester, oh such a bummer eh?  Bears can wreak havoc with bee colonies.  Dreadful.  The pictures didn't load when I tried to view them, could be just my computer, but I doubt it.  When you post pictures, always push the "preview' button to see if the pictures loaded or not, just a little tip.  Try again, would love to see them, have that wonderful and awesome day, health.  Cindi
