Took a stroll through the ol' bee yard this morning. All four hives have a good bit of activity. It appears they survived the first cold spell of the winter. I have 100# of fondant coming tomorrow and I'm going to give each hive 25# just for good measure. With luck, that will hold them over until spring. I'll order more fondant to have on hand, just in case. I have a bakery supplier a few miles down the road. They usually have some onhand but, if they're out, they can get it by the next morning. I may just have to supply those guys with some honey.
Congratulations! I did the same and was also pleasantly surprised to find all of my hives and nucs alive and well. I figured the wind and weather would get at least a couple of them. I did top off a couple of the hives granulated sugar reserves and I'll keep checking every couple weeks as the weather allows.
