I live in NW NJ - was pretty warm today. I have 2 hives, one is 2 years old and the other is 1 year old. The new hive was buzzing and bees were making short trips outside. No sound from the older hive. Lots of dead bees on the floorboard. The older hive actually had more supplies going into the winter so I don't know what happened. I didn't open either up. Is it possible that the bees in the quiet hive are hunkered down? If they are all dead, what can I do with all that honey? I'm reluctant to give it to the other hive in the spring. I've never had infection problems. Can I just leave it there until a really warm day? Can I use it with the nuc (that I will but in April)? Can I use it for myself? Any other suggestions or comments are welcome.

if you fed, you won't want to eat that honey. save it for later feeding. you can save it in the frame, which is my preference, or extract it and feed it back.
