here in central VA. it's been unusually cold through December and early January. although the last three days have been in the upper forties , low fifties. all of my hives had bees flying and i used this opportunity to replenish powdered sugar on hives that "felt lite". also put out alittle syrup to see if they would take it, there was some interest but a think most of the activity was just clean up and getting some fresh air. how about y'all ? how are yours doing ?
We got up to 68°F yesterday (after a low of 37°F) and they were going nuts! Foraging like crazy with the warm afternoon temps. Love the warms temps why they last...

Have 3 hive and all are doing fine. Over here in the southwest virginia we have had the same kind of weasther and the girls have been out cleaning. I had put some powdered sugar on my hives back in Nov. and they still are fine. Can't wait till spring and warm weather. :-D

Here in Concord, VA. it's the same weather wise. Both hives are flying as soon as it hits near 50 F. Dry sugared the hives and replaced empty frames with fully ones.
here in louisiana my bees are flying like crazy.making 2 splits today :bee:
We are in a much welcomed warm up trend but our bees are one and a half-two weeks behind schedule due to unusually cold temps this winter.

I just checked mine today. It was in the upper 40's. They have just started dining on the fondant I gave them two months ago. I gave them some pollen patties to give some help in the brood rearing department. They are alive and very active on the warmer days. Looking forward to the arrival of spring.
Upper 50s today and both my hives are bringing in lots of pollen. Really lots. Still on the sugar though so I'm thinking no nectar yet. It won't be long now though.
Im 6 for 6. One of them I think was queenless going into fall but still has bees in it. Im sure its toast but I wanted to watch and see what would happen to it so I could make better judgment calls in the future. Anyhow, this is colony I made from a queen cell July third 09. I took this yesterday.
