Title: Worst Honey Crop on Record
Post by: bee-nuts on January 19, 2010, 11:02:22 PM
I don't believe this is news to many beeks anymore but here is an article I found interesting.

Do any of you think honey prices will rise much by this coming summer?

If you subscribe to ABJ and look at the national wholesale pricing you will notice a trend in the last 18 months of honey prices climbing.  So I think with the poor 2009 crop in the US overall we will find higher pricing early and maybe late into next fall.  It might be advantageous for beeks that sell wholesale honey to hold off until January to sell the bulk of the 2010 crop in hopes for a ~2.00 lbs pricing.

They already have here there selling honey in a quart jar for 15 dollars and may go up by what the locals are saying.

All I know is my bees better produce this year or else! I hardly even have any honey left for me.
