Title: PNW folks-check your hives.
Post by: Kathyp on January 21, 2010, 04:48:10 PM
we are having some unusually warm weather and the bees are flying.  that means they are using stores.  in addition, i just walked my property and the pollen is starting to pop on some of the trees.  the bees are bringing it in and that means brood rearing.  make sure that your hives still have plenty of stores.  we will yet have cold weather, but this is the danger time for losing hives.  a couple of years ago, i almost lost all of mine under the same conditions.

Been very dry up in Washington and I had to put on pollen patties to keep them going now because natural pollen is coming out.
