Title: Hello from Staten Island, New York
Post by: bubbahines on January 28, 2010, 08:29:54 PM
Hi all, My name is Rocky and I have been reading alot online about HoneyBees.....fascinating creatures. I would like to start a Bee Hive in my backyard. (not sure my wife thinks it's a good idea but....) I found this site by accident and I am inclined to think it's an OMEN. I live in the suburbs, own my own house with a back yard that measures 50' x 65'. I've seen countless videos on BeeKeeping and I would like to take a hands on approach. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In a small yard it would be good to have a barrier for them to go up and over.  Keeps the flight path in and out from going through the neighbor's yard.

The only problem I can see would be your neighbors.  If they are really close to your yard, you should probably let them know.
