Yes, I have my ears on - I visit a lot but haven't had much to say lately - I'm putting a lot of energy into the blog and studying for taking the Master Beekeeper test at Young Harris in May. The last two weekends I've been at beekeeping conferences....Southeast Organic Beekeepers in Florida and then at GBA - wish you had been there.
I'll try to keep up better.... :shock:

I did lose hives in the big flood in September, but the hives on my deck were fine. I lost one of them over the winter and am down to two hives, but those appear to be thriving. The dead hive, I think was either queenless or weak going into winter. The way the dead bees look in the hive I think they were robbed and died that way. The hive was full of stored open capped syrup that I think the small cadre of survivors put up after the robbery but were too small a cluster to stay alive in our last three weeks of 20 degree weather.
