I just got my first LSH yesterday YEAH!!! X:X but I was to sick to pay attention to how to put it together so I was wondering if any one has any good videos on you tube on how to put one one together? for I am about go get it going here soon.
It is made of pine and I live close to Tucson Az so I thought I would go with the natural look any suggestions? I figured I would do some wood burning of runes on them like I did my TBH to give them that south west look to them.
as well as who all here uses a queen exclusion's just curious?
a good video to watch is A Year in the Life of an Apiary you can check it out at a libiary and it really can help you out. as for puting your box togather nails and tite bond II glue and you decorate it any way you want one out side.

I do after not using them for my first couple years. I do because I don't like having to go through the whole hive to get the honey I want. I keep the supers above the excluder propped a bit so bees can get in and store honey. Makes my life easier.

bummer I have to wait until tomorrow because two pieces of one of each box was cracked and I am missing the foundations for the medium frames. so I cant get them all put together until this weekend or next week some time.
Is there an easy way to put together wax foundations? Because what I have been doing has been taking forever, not sure if its just my OCD or it just being a pain in my @$$!!!

after about the 100"th frame it gets to be a chore. plastic foundation or wax it just is boring.

You got that right. What really sucks is having hundreds of comb that you need remove from the frame (due to age, destroyed, whatever) and have to re-do them all.
