Title: Visitors early in Southern PA
Post by: CVBees on March 09, 2010, 04:40:44 PM
I set my new hives out in the sun to freshen up before paint and I noticed a half dozen girls hanging out.  Since I hardly saw any bees on my property much less before any thing is in bloom.  I grabbed a new nuc framed it up dropped some lemongrass in and filled up a feeder.  It has to be too early for a swarm in this neck of the woods but had to try.  It was nice seeing them.  I am right on the PA MD border.

That's definitely not a swarm.  They are just getting a bite to eat since you provided a free lunch.  :-)

i had that happen last year.i had a frame of honey in my shop with the door opened.within 2hours i had the frame full of bees robbing my honey.i watched the direction they were flying and caught 30 bees off the frame and went the way they were flying .i let 1 go and followed her till i could not see her anymore.i did that till i found the hive.you might want to give it a try .
