Post by: doak on March 20, 2010, 10:22:34 PM
Built a long box today. although for only 20 deep frames. plan on running mediums on top.
Have only two existing colonies but they are getting along fine. :)doak

Good deal on the new hive and thats good news about your two colonies.
So are you going to put a new colony into this hive or are you going to move one of the others in?

Giving it to  one of the ones I have. She is a yellow queen and has a solid pattern. Building up good.
Trying to fix it to where it will easy to work. She doesn't know it but she is going to be a brood queen. :)doak

I have been thinking about doing a top bar hive, but it seams to me to make more sense to do a long hive and use my existing frames. Mine would be all mediums. Any thoughts?

I plan on making another one in medium configuration. This one is already in a deep and building up good so I thought I would them continue on in a deep. My other colony is in a medium so It should go with out a hitch. I have several deep boxes that are getting shabby on the bottom so I'll just cut those down. :)doak
