I don't have one of these but I have found over the years animals tend to disreguard devises like this after it goes off a few times, especially coons. The only thing I have found that works consistently other than my rifle is electric fencing.

Unless something is actively pursuing the respective pest, it learns to not fear something that may have startled it prior.  Raccoons are indeed the worst, wild pigs are a close 2nd and they do learn quickly (never been around bears though).  Unless you've got a "Simba" you better "Havahart" it and haul it over 10 miles away or hit it with some firepower.  Those that I have trapped I hit with a spot of green spray paint on the backside.  If they make it back they don't get a 2nd chance.  I've never had to do that yet, I used to trap for fur (Jr. high and High School) so it will be no problem though.

Fisher cat.  I've never even heard of one of those.  Proof positive, you can learn something everyday if you're paying attention.

What critters are you trying to deter? We live-trap coons in our sweet corn patch in trip-wire, wired-box type thingies. Then, they are dispatched with.... Baited with black licorice.
