Title: Entrance Reducer
Post by: GJRoberts on March 30, 2010, 02:49:13 PM
Anyone have the dimensions for an entrance reducer for the lang hive.  I have looked all over have not found any plans or dimensions.  It has to be simple to make.

Thanks.

If you want simple just use a piece of lumber that is short enough to leave the entrance size you want uncovered.

For accuracy, measure the rim on the bottom board the hive sits on. Mine are 3/8 and 3/4.

The boardman feeders allow 3/4" and 3/8" in height.

How would you cut a 3 inch wide slot in the entrance reducer if your dado setup only goes up to 1 inch?

Offset and cut 3 1" wide cuts that overlap by 1/64" or so....

Or cut them into 2 pieces and use the gap in the middle.  It can be 1" or 3" gap.  Just whatever you have in stock.  I use up a lot of the scrap that way.
