Title: No brood in hive
Post by: Buz Green on April 08, 2010, 07:24:53 PM
Are there times during the winter season when one would find no brood in a seemingly healthy hive?

I am in Colorado at elev. 6500' and we are still a few weeks away from our nectar season and I did a cutout today and there were plenty of bees and plenty of capped and uncapped honey but I couldn't find egg one. No brood either (I did a thorough search).
Is there a period during the late winter that the queen takes a "spring break"?
