Title: Two hives packaged one laying queen
Post by: Course Bee on April 19, 2010, 10:48:28 AM
I hived my two packages on April 9th. I opened the hives on sat. April 17th and found losts off eggs in one hive but didn't see eggs in the other. The bees are bringing pollen into both hives. Is bringing in pollen a possitive sign that I have a laying queen even though I didn't see eggs or do I need to open up the hive and look again in a few days?

Were you able to locate the queen in the second hive?  Foragers bringing in pollen is not a sign of a laying queen.  If you cannot locate her, you may want to wait another week and check for eggs/larvae again.  Good luck!
