Okay, now this is going to be stupid but I want to start out right or as close to being right from the get go.
I just finished building my first hive. I was going to wait before I ordered my first bees until next season. I live in NE Florida, it is the end of April, is it to late or not a good idea to start my first hive? I understand that Florida summers are longer but I want to make sure the bees will have enough time to build up a winter store. This last winter was one of the longest and coldest winters I have experienced here. I also have a large super and medium super, should I add a small super as well? I'm not real concerned about honey at this time. Thanx
Get bees now if you can find them. Use only one box until it is nearly full, then add another. One deep is enough for brood in your area. The rest can be honey supers.
