Title: Nectar flows
Post by: watercarving on April 26, 2010, 10:01:03 AM
My hives have lots of clear, sweet smelling nectar stored up. I have no idea what it could be. Lot's of blooming going on but the first big bloom is usually tulip poplar and it's a few weeks out.

Anybody familiar with my area?

From NASA's honeybee net.  Great information for N. Georgia

Go to http://honeybeenet.gsfc.nasa.gov/Sites/ScaleHiveSite.php?SiteID=GA001 (http://honeybeenet.gsfc.nasa.gov/Sites/ScaleHiveSite.php?SiteID=GA001) to see the data

I'm a couple of hundred miles north of Georgia and there is all kinds of stuff in bloom here including tulip poplar that is mostly just about to bloom.  The main thing here at the moment seems to be locust.

Whatever this is it's clear and very sweet smelling.
