Title: Trap out in Colorado
Post by: Highlandsfreedom on April 27, 2010, 01:55:51 PM
I have a few trap outs to do this year from last fall.  But it is still getting down to 31-35 at night and snowing.  Is it ok to start or should I wait till it stays above 40 at night?  And on a side note I have a few swarm traps already out and I put a few drops of lemongrass oil on the tops of the wooden frames.  How long will the scent last?

Thanks,
Dave

If you can start the trap with a frame of honey, then add a frame of eggs after you have 3 frames covered with bees, I think it should be fine.

Lemongrass, approx. 30 days.

Dave,

I have a trapout to do as well.  I've been watching the forecast...unless you're in a hurry it looks like the weekend after next might be best to get going.  That's when I I'm going to get started.  Stay in touch.

Howdy over there,

I am new to bee keeping. What are trap outs and what do you do with them?
