Okay, a week ago I made a split. I had a deep and a medium brood box. I found 2 frames with swarm cells uncapped. I took the medium with the swarm cells, made sure both the deep and the medium had eggs and fresh larvae, and moved the medium to another location. Didn't find the queen at that time but kinda thought she was in the deep because I searched the medium pretty good. Today while going thru my medium I noticed very young larvae, telling me the old queen is in the medium, and most of the queen cells are now capped. This medium is not near the strength as the hive I split it from and I added a deep and started feeding syrup. It is doing good but now I am wondering if the old queen will still swarm even after this split and if I should maybe split again into some nucs or just leave well enough alone. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks
You can never tell with bees. They might swarm (although room will help) they might supersede the queen (more likely), they might just tear down the cells before they emerge.
