Title: using old frames
Post by: dgc1961 on May 10, 2010, 09:31:07 AM
I am getting my package of bees Friday.  The hive I am using is from last year, and some of the frames are full of pollen.  Is it okay to use those?  I don't see any mold, however the frames are almost full of pollen.  The queen won't have room to lay in them.

Where were you keeping these frames, in the freezer? The shed?

The frames were kept in the hive in my garage.  I kept them covered so that nothing could get in there, i.e. wax moths.

I mean to say on my first post, that I was wanting to use the drawn comb to help out the new package.

Use them, but put the pollen comb near the outside and the empty comb toward center.
