Hello all. I've just joined this forum. I am in Essex CT. I am a backyard beekeeper. I currently have 3 langstorth hives and one 4' TBH. I've joined this forum to learn and share experience. I am also hoping to find a mentor in the CT area.
Glad to be here.

Welcome! I'm from Iowa myself, and due to a lack of experience won't be any help as a mentor. But I'm happy to see another person has found these boards!
I have found our state apiarist and inspectors to be an excellant source of information. The inspector checked out my hives and gave me a lot of great information. He helped me find my queens, explained how to avoid swarming on a hive I'd already split once and was scared I was going to have to split again...I'm running out of equipment! All-around excellant experience. I was surprised he took the time to come visit my little enterprise. At the time he scheduled the meeting, I only had 3 hives.
I'm presently taking a break from constructing frames for honey supers. He said I could put as many as 4 on each hive. I thought holy $%#!! That's 240 frames--AND 24 boxes! So I've been smashing my thumb for days on end now, it seems. I'm trying to keep ahead of the honey flow, which he tells me has not begun yet. How can that be, I wonder, when three of these hives has already nearly finished capping 10 frames each!
You'll find a lot of helpful and kind people on here. I sure have! So best of luck with your endeavors. Check in often. It may surprise you how much help you can be to someone else!

Greetings.
I'm in West Haven, CT. This is my first year as well and I've had a lot of helpful input from people more experienced than I, but common sense has helped me find things and make things easier on my own. Shoot me a message or get in touch. There may be someone here closer in location than I, but I'm here to help if you need it.
