Title: Help Please
Post by: Schoon on May 12, 2010, 08:10:42 PM
This is my second year and my first swarm. When I got home a few mintues ago I heard a roar. I looked up and the air was full of bees. Do I have a queen left in the hive? Should I order one in the morning. This is the second year for the bees.
Thanks

The best case scenario is there's one or more capped queen cells in there. You'll want to let them have a go at raising their own and see if eggs are being laid a couple weeks out or, get another queen and introduce it.

I would check the frames for swarm cells. I don't think they would swarm without leaving a future queen.
