sunday afternoon we went on a mission to ware, mass. and picked up 4 new nukes from lagrants. since we arrived home after midnight we waited till morning to introduce them to thier new home . unfortunatly we are one entrance feeder short of a full load...
is it of concern that one hive is feederless for a day or two? will the bees from the feederless hive rob the others?
since we are trying to manufacture our own equipment im going to try and make a hive top feeder later today at the woodshop.need some plans first!!!!thanks! the suns out!! YAY!

:D
I don't think it will matter. I assume you have dandelions and other blooms now for the girls to snack on. :)
I can't pick up my nucs from Lagrant's until May 21st, and I ordered them back in December. . .
must want you at the seminar...ca-ching,ca-ching. 8)
as long as it stays warm out and they can find something to eat they should be fine but I would get a feeder for them very soon. :D
why cant we set up a pail or jar feeder inside an empty super like last winter? if so should we set up all five with internal feeders? yea or ney? :?:
buddy dan got stung 9 times in last 3 days..hes happy, pain free but a little lumpy...:?

Burny-
Yeah, you can feed that way. What ever you have for a a feeding option (aside from an open bowl that all hives would feed from) would work.
Beth
you dont want to start robbing due to the open bowl. :)
they all have feeders now!
thanks for info.......temp, went from a high of 85 to 35 overnight....poor bees.
God bless,

good to here that they all have feeders. :D
Well, since I'm just getting started, I bought a whole kit, which included the seminar, so that's okay. :-)
I think the seminar is a good idea--it'll be a great chance to ask questions from people who do this for a living.

Hi, wondering if you put the feeders on the single body nuc or did you add the second hive body and put the jar feeder on top in a third hive body? I picked up a couple of nucs Tuesday and the guy I got them from told me to feed them a gallon of syrup to get them started drawing comb. Forgot to ask if the second box was to be added along with a feeder when I got them home or not.
If you use division board feeders or jars or cans inside the hive ust fill up the extra space with frames. They'll draw it necessary and when you remove the feeder just replaced the remaining frames and its supered already.
Take and asprin and call me in the morning.
