Title: Pollen traps
Post by: Ollie on May 17, 2010, 11:21:23 PM
So I got this top mounted pollen trap.
Instructions say to close off the entrance of the hive and make an entrance on the top for about a couple of weeks before installing the trap.
But ...Man! I feel so guilty, all those bees trying to get in in the bottom, they haven't found the top entrance yet...
I figured that I should put some kind of a branch over the top entrance , but still, it must be confusing for the girls.

Any suggestions?

AFTER dark close off the bottom entrance.  Then in the morning the bees will have to exit thru the top--and will reorientate & return thru the same entrance. I have used this trick when changing my entrances.  Works pretty well. Good luck.

dont let it worry you they will figure it out it just may take a couple of days for them to reorientate
