Title: Cleaning Hooded Inspection Jackets
Post by: gwalker314 on May 19, 2010, 03:59:24 PM
I have a Dadant hooded inspection jacket that needs a good washing. The label says it can be machine washed and tumble dried, But I was wondering how it would affect the hooded veil? The veil zips all the way around to the back but doesn't appear to be completely removable.  I emailed Dadant and they replied to remove the veil and machine wash the jacket, then hand wash the veil.

Has anyone washed one or removed the hooded veil?

Thanks,

GW

zip it all up.  wash on gentle cycle.  i don't put mine in the dryer. i hang it to dry.  it dries quickly.

I remove the hood and wash the jacket in the machine, then into the dryer. I wash the hood by hand and hang to dry. The first time, it takes some studying to get the hood off and back on, but gets easier with practice.

Thanks for the advice I will try to remove the veil again, If not, wash it on gentle cycle.

Thanks again,

Of course I own a jacket. I do have guests, ya know. They have to have something to wear.

The Dadants I have seen all have removable hoods.

I remove the hood and wash the jacket in the machine. Hand wash the hood.  It is rather confusing the first time trying to figure out how to remove the hood from the jacket.

You are suppose to wash them?  I worked real hard getting my brown jacket where I don't have to use smoke anymore.
