Title: Nearest of Neighbours

How close can you put 2 hives side by side if they are facing the same direction? I have a cramped part of the garden in which to put 2-3 ish hives.

mine have about a foot between and facing the same direction.  they could be right against each other, but i use the space to put stuff.  your hives will be fine.

2 inches.  I stack hives vertically as well, and then their entrance can be even closer.

Can I put a younger (less strong) hive next to an established (stronger) hive or will this lead to robbing?

put an entrance reducer on the smaller one.   they will only need to defend a small space that way.  you may also slip a board or branch between to direct them away from each other.
