Title: new swarm and robbing?
Post by: gkempf on May 21, 2010, 10:55:39 AM
I got a swarm out of a tree yesterday, they were on a low limb and i shook them off into a deep super, i left the super there overnite so they could all get inside, i brought them home last nite, i still have the entrance blocked off and installed a bottom feeder, my question is when should i open the entrance? it is cool and raining here and i didn't want them to get robbed from my other 2 hives...

I would put a reducer in it but definately you need some ventilation in the hive.

Yeah, reducers and don't worry about the robbing.  You have the honey flow going on.  They will do fine for now.
