Title: Purple Brood?
Post by: CraiginPC on May 24, 2010, 01:07:44 PM
I am in North Florida where tons of stuff is in blossom right now. I have been told that my current location is not good and I should move my hives because of summer titi, a local tree that bees like but supposedly will cause "purple brood" and the death of most or all existing brood in the hive. Does anyone have any experience with this? It seems hard to imagine the girls collecting and storing a naturally occuring poison, but then the more I learn the less I seem to know. Thanks for any advice.
