Title: Rubberband
Post by: montauk170 on June 03, 2010, 02:37:24 PM
During a cutout, some beeks rubberband combs to the frames. Will the bees chew through the rubberband and remove it from the hive?
Or they will do the chewing part and I would remove the rubberband from the bottom when I inspect later?

yes  :-D

sometimes they remove them.  sometimes you do.  sometimes you pull a two year old frame out of the hive and find the rubber bands are now part of the comb.

Mine chewed off some part, I pulled out the rest. This time I sewed combs onto bars, and the thread is still intact...That's okay, as it's on the brood bars anyway.

It is ok just as long as the comb is repaired and waxed to the frame.
