Post by: riverrat on June 05, 2010, 12:20:19 PM
i decided this year to forgo my spring honey crop and split hives concentrating on the hives i have picked up or cut out of feral local stock. last night i split a hive into 4 nucs. Now i want to hear from the panel of experts here on beemaster what is the most hives you have split out of one hive at once letting them make there own queen. and how successful was your attempt

I have pulled 4 frames of brood with 4 frames of capped honey into queen castles before out of a hive.   This year I lost 1 of them after I transfered them to nuc boxes.   I think they were robbed out by bees or ants.
