Title: Need Answer
Post by: Schoon on June 05, 2010, 09:54:31 PM
My hive swarm in the middle of May. They were working on filling a med. super of honey. I checked today and they have larva in the deep super. I don't know how long it will be before they will have enough help to forage. I know that the honey flow is coming to an end. Will it be ok to take what they have in the super and to put the empty frames back in. Thanks

If it is capped, yes, but you may need to feed if they run low.

You can do it, especially if they're capped.  Don't be surprised if you may need to feed if they don't have any other flow that's strong enough for winter surplus.  Once a hive swarms, normally you're not going to get any honey harvest off of them for that year.
