Title: Beeswax supply in the US
Post by: AllenF on June 09, 2010, 01:15:00 PM
Today, I was trying to explain to my wife how they make the power that absorbs the oil from beeswax.   One thing she brought up was just how much they are using down there and it got me thinking, with the amount of beeswax that is being used down there, how will that affect the wax supply here?  Maybe drive the cost up?   Maybe drive up the cost of foundation?   What about the 1000s of other products that use beeswax?  It is day 51 of the oil spill.  What about day 151 at the end of the honey harvest?

I like the "honeybees" they have on that video!!  I'm not sure that oil bound to little bubbles of wax is all that much different than oil not bound.....

I think its amazing, if its that good they should be spreading that stuff around the gulf, my question is if it works all that great , why the heck don't the goverment use it on the oil spill. and around the barrier islands in the gulf. ??

They are using it.   That is what you see in the floating barriers in the water and in between the silt fences on the beaches everywhere.

I'm sure PETA liked the oil too.. I don't raise llamas but it was a miniature model, I can't think of the name at the moment. Here, on the news local news, local farmers claimed hair was sought around the country for the gulf. Take it or leave it.
