Title: DONT USE OAK!
Post by: cdholl on June 22, 2010, 11:06:30 PM
I thought it would be soooo cool and look rich, and it does, but i'll be an old man before i know it!  Oak is beautiful but heavy!  I have 2 oak hives and one pine and yes, there is a drastic weight difference.
So just a heads up for anyone wanting to try something different.      BEWARE

They look beautiful for sure.  The weight difference is certainly nothing to ignore.  I feel for your back man :)

I've seen some articles on making furniture out of bee hives. When those boxes get too heavy to lift regularly, they would make very attractive end tables!
