I am on my second year of beekeeping and would like to purchase a good reference book to learn more about my bees and how to manage them. Which would you say is a better resource? The ABC and XYZ of Bee Culture or The Hive and the Honeybee? Can anyone tell me the differences in the two books?
Thanks for any insight!
A beek that doesn't have both is incomplete. They are both, in my opinion, mandatory.
I agree with iddee on this one, however, if given a choice of the 2 i would pick abc and xyz. no real reasson other than i just prefer it over the other
To quote Sandra Bullock's character in 28 days when she was asked what her drug of choice was: "I have to CHOOSE!?"
I would get them both, but of the two I like ABC XYZ better.
They both are very good. If choosing I would purchase the ABC XYZ's first. It is full of great information.
I can only echo the above sentiments. Both offer good information that isn't quite the same in the other book. However, ABC is the one you will likely get more out of if only one is to be had.
Big Bear
I like the ABC because it is aphibetical. If you want to know about mites just go to the M section.
ABC is to me the encyclopedia of beeking.
