Title: hive swarmed July 3rd
Post by: garys520 on July 03, 2010, 10:38:46 PM
One of my new packages swarmed today.  I was still feeding the hive sugar water to help them draw out new foundation, but the girls were just hording and packing the two deeps.  Well it  became honey bound and the girls took off.  I went into the hive and moved some empty frames toward the middle of the hive to help the lack of room for the new queen when she's ready to take over.  Is it common for the hive to swarm when feeding sugar water during the summer or was I just feeding too much too fast?
