Title: First spring harvest
Post by: gardeningfireman on July 07, 2010, 11:36:58 PM
Well, I just finished extracting and bottling my first spring harvest. Two, one year old hives, one nuc  started on April 29th, and a cutout totaled 104.5 pounds of honey!  :-D And I left 7 or 8 frames in the supers that weren't capped yet!

Wow that is cool, or should I say sweet!!  I can't wait till I actually get to pull some honey off and bottle it up.  Last year I think I got four quarts off the hive I started that spring.  They wintered well but I lost the queen and am starting that hive over this year.  I do have other hives all started this year and am hoping for a fall harvest after the goldenrod.  Stay safe.  Harv

thanks Harv. If you have a lot of goldenrod in your area, you will surely get a decent amount of honey this fall. Good luck with the new hives.
