So not only did they destroy the Buddha statues along the silk road, they screw with hives?

Ugh, very unsavory type.  What next for them? kicking puppies on primetime?

striking imagery of Afgans in veils.   brings home the reality of how much we have in common.
so now do i need to be aware of Afganized honey bees ?   :-D

I can't open the video, but WHY? What's the problem with beekeeping? Too much power to females? (as in, the queen and her workers)

Awesome story, thanks.

Jim, my BF served in the Peace Corp in the DR around 85-86 I think, building ponds. He wants to do that again when we retire, in another 10 or 20 years. I haven't told him yet but I'm starting to warm up to the idea. Does the Peace Corp still teach beekeeping?

When I was in the  Peace Corps 83-85 you need 3–5 years full-time work experience in bees, agriculture, construction, etc... Hope this help you out. You use to see ads in ABJ ,BC and Speed Bee.

Since I have no access to YouTube, could someone fill me and give me a synopsis of the issue?

They are showing the US Army has an association of beekeepers who are teaching beekeeping and/or helping former beekeepers in Afghanistan. This is then being shared with other Afghan farmers.

They said the beeshives were destroyed by the Taliban because this was the way the people could secretly make money without the Taliban knowing about it.

They showed Afghan beekeepers making their own wax foundation and many people watching the process.

They had an interview with one Afghan beekeeper and he seemed very grateful for the help they are receiving.

They said their honey is very special.

They showed a solar wax melter at the end.

It was very nice. Why can't you get UTube??

Very good work but it seems like the soldier was facillitating more than teaching.  Either way I feel grateful for thier work.
