Title: who gets the sugar?
Post by: FRAMEshift on July 19, 2010, 12:22:40 PM
If I am feeding sugar 1:1 or 2:1  in the hive, who is collecting  the sugar?  Is it foragers (shouldn't they be outside?) or nurse bees (shouldn't they be in the brood nest?)

Now that's a good question.   I really don't know, but I will guess at all of the above.

I'm also thinking of this with regard to feeding solid sugar inside the hive.  Many folks say that the granulated sugar gets thown out as trash.  But foragers and nurse bees don't do trash duty(AFAIK).  Maybe some bees are throwing it out while others are treating it as food.

Your beekeeping seems bad. When you look the bees they all have belly full.

Are you saying that all bees will pick up sugar syrup inside the hive?  Or do you just have a belly full of Finlandia ?  :-D
