did you take enough honey to even justify and extractor?  if it's only a couple of supers you might want to consider cut comb or crush and strain and buy an extractor next year.

that is a good idea but doesn't crushing the comb set the bees back next year, as they have to draw out comb again?

some say yes, but i started this year with most of my supers undrawn with only starter strips.  they were all fully drawn within a couple of weeks and filled or being filled at the same time.  everything depends on the flow and your timing.  i have put fully drawn supers on and gotten nothing because it was a bad year.  if you are doing cut comb, you will start over every year.

slacker361, if you want to build an extractor maybe check this out, don't lose all your honey profit in an extractor purchase! Country :)

I did see a guy on this site I thought post a utube video of himself extraction honey with a drill and a garbage can!  He lined the small 5 gal can with a clean bag to catch the honey and used a rod and two 2by4's to hold the top and botton of 2 frames.  The drill on top and done.  Then just squeeze the bag like frosting a cake with honey when you are done!  Amazing ideas from amazing people out there, it was like $12 for his whole season! :-D
