Hi Everybody,
I was wondering if anyone has a cut list for a 4 or 5 frame nuc? I have the plans from beesource.com but i think some of the measurements are out...
Cheers
I just finished building 400 5 frame deep nucs. The outside dimensions are 19 7/8" x 9" x 9 5/8". The 9" width is 1/8" wider than many of the commercially available nucs but I really like having just that little bit of extra space for frame manipulations.

Thanks Hardwod, that's a few nucs hahahah!
So your sides were 19 7/8" X 9" and your front/rear were 9 5/8" X 9" what thickness timber did you use? did you use rebate or finger joins? This is my first time considering making them so i want to make sure i get it 100% spot on

And i'm an ozzie so imperial measurements are like double dutch to me hahah
Those are finished dimensions. The actual boards will vary depending upon what type of joinery you use. For our nucs (which are relatively light in weight and only used for splits) I use a rabbited lap joint. For 10 frame equipment I use either a finger (box) joint or a half blind dovetail which are a lot stronger but more time consuming to produce. The finish thickness of our lumber is 3/4" for everything. I'll let you do the metric conversions :-D

for you both............

Thanks for the link iddee, but I really don't need the conversion :-D

Actually, the only mm I know comes in a colorful bag and melts in your mouth, not in your hand. I'm wondering where they get the idea that there's 2.54 to the inch? must not be talkin' about the peanut kind...go figure.
Scott
Hahahah that's scott! much appreciated... mm is easier than all of this 5/8 stuff :)
I think it's 2.54 cm. 25.4 mm.

Snap - someone knows their imperial to metric conversions :-D
Below is a link to a thread where D Coates shared his design for plywood nucs. I've made several and it was very easy and everything fits very well.
