Title: Fooling With Bees On my Day Off!
Post by: JP on August 16, 2010, 03:32:57 AM
I set this young lady up this season with four frames of bees that are now in two deeps and two mediums. She has pulled two mediums worth of honey from this hive!

I also set her up with five frames of bees in late May I want to say. They are in three boxes. A deep and two mediums.

This second hive grew honey bound and swarmed I would say within the last two days.

We housed this swarm today in a five frame deep nuc and went through both hives.

It was hot as heck!

Nice one JP!

The 'march' was amazing.

Loved the urban Buff Orpingtons too.

That was a great video, and I loved the music on this one.  It is amazing how long you can pull honey from the bees in your area.   Our honey season here is over.

Ok, let me get this straight. The hive swarmed in the last day or two and when you went through the hive they already had a mated and laying queen? Man them are some good bees!

P.S. Peggy says that since you got divorced and all...Bonnie might be a good prospect! :-D

Scott, all I can tell you as that I saw this same queen in the hive three different times. She wasn't as big as the one in the swarm but she was searching cells to lay. I saw some eggs and very small larvae.

Do you remember the swarm at Bud's? The new queen was laying in there as well.

I'll make sure and tell my wife what you said, er, what Peggy said.  ;)
