Title: Be Go, or Honey Robber
Post by: leechmann on August 18, 2010, 01:07:59 AM
I'm looking for some advise on these two products. I've never used either of them. The ads say just put a few drops on a fume board and place the board on top of the hive. So then you steal the honey and then do the bees immediately return to the hive? How well do these products work?

Both work really well but will run you out of the bee yard as well. Try bee quick.

Agreed.  Beequick is similarly effective, and smells much much much better.

Definitely go with the Bee Quick. Honey Robber & Bee Go are extremely vial. One smells like vomit, the other like vomit and sewage together, plus they disorient the bees for a good while as well as being severe eye irritants.

Honey robber smells like concentrated essence of cherry vomit.  Bee Go smells like concentrated essence of plain vomit.  Bee Quick smells like benzaldehyde which is the ingredient in Marachino cherries and the ingredient used to make artificial almond flavor.

You could just wait until the weather cools down and the bees will be in the brood nest already...

OInce the weather cools down around here enough to keep them in the brood nest the honey is very thick and hard to extract - then you have to warm it up, and I don't use heat.  The Fisher Bee Quick is the way to go, let the fume board warm up in the sun, spray and then pop it on top of a super.  The few strays can be blown out if need be.

Bee go is my choice.  In still humid weather bee quick does not seem to do as good of a job.

Both are excellent bee repellants... as well as beekeeper repellants... wife repellants....neighbor repellants... grand kid repellants... OH! and it wonderfully lasts for weeks and weeks especially on any gloves, clothing, trucks and anywhere that any woodenware is stored.
