I have a doz hops vines covered with cones that seem to be very attractive to the bee's. They do smell great but I wonder whats going through there heads with these.
there is a new mite treatment aplying for sec18-and the primary ingredient comes from HOPS-maybe the bees know somthing we dont- http://www.wasba.org/Request%20for%20use%20of%20HopGuard%20on%20honey%20bee%20colonies%20to%20control%20varroa%20mites%20082410.pdf (http://www.wasba.org/Request%20for%20use%20of%20HopGuard%20on%20honey%20bee%20colonies%20to%20control%20varroa%20mites%20082410.pdf)

Wouldn't you know it, I harvested my hops yesterday! They were getting a few specks of brown on a few, so it was time. Love that smell. :-D
I went and looked at my plants and there were some bees on the hops I missed, rubbing their back legs together quite a bit. I assume they were gathering pollen and/or the oils.
No wonder I don't have varroa mites myself. ;-)
