Title: Used lumber for hives
Post by: Stlnifr on October 02, 2010, 02:25:43 PM
I have been building a kenya top bar hive and made it out of used lumber it was painted both sides. Does it hurt for the inside of the hive to be white.

I know that with a lang hive you would not paint the inside (even though there are many out there that are) because the bees will varnish it with propolis or plant sap.  But with a top bar hive?   I do not know.   Also, you can not beat the price of used wood.
